lyrics

The Messenger

Can you see him blowing in from the sea?
All salt line fables
it's not like I'm the one, who has anything to believe
Its a great myth, I am even to me,
every shot in the dark, I’m no dog, I’m all bark
And a tight lipped call to worship, for the distance of sorrow
to expand to the curve, where the lines are just dots
Where loose lips sink ships, and a little rain never hurt anyone
Say the moth to the fishing net, 'I'm just glad you're not a spiders web'
And if there's a god, when was I lost, and if there's nothing to find
then I guess I’m doing fine without you

Would you come to the call,
of someone lost as you are?
I'm straying out blind, with arms open to the wild
listening for someone coming home

Is it me whose leading the charge? Well I love your trust,
but if you cant see me, well I think we're both lost,
Where do we go from here? From what do you lean to me,
how am I colouring you in, putting in your eyes?
As if Im the only one, borrowing you all up for a tune, like Im want to do,
but for the craters of the moon,
the blue blue blue,
how many blue moons will it take to shake, the feelings of mistake,
And where in the wild wild woods,
will the thrill of the hunt succumb to the kill?

Are you the messenger that I wait for?
Oh you you must be a wooden horse.
Filling my door way with expectation and glory,
Giving me everything that I deserve.

And when you come you come all battered and bruised,
from a war, from the lord, from somewhere so way up North,
saw you running around the houses with a sword
crawling out on all fours, to lead the blind
And does the fire that you stole
bring more light than the darkness it intensifies?
Did you ever throw your hopes to the dogs?
Or expect a straight answer from a stray who,
just happened to be going your way

Would you come to the call,
of someone as lost as you are?
I've strayed out blind, with arms open wide
listening for someone, coming home
