Eyes of innocence, songs of experience my blood bleeds for you and your eyes sky blue stretched out alone we curl through the calendar breathing through trees our hands green as leaves a cross road a crossing the dust and the devil come rider come ride with me all heaven and its weeds wild flowers bloom to be blowers of seeds in our autumn we'll know them life took us on the bend Take me on past the houses the streets and the names send up signals to passing terrestrials lighting the air up winding creek waterfall take me and break me all in your easy way higher I go and I'm higher than high I'm lost to this mountain too lost to the falling sky roar me an engine take flight from a window this morning is painting something unspoken I know Come lie before me like fog in the valley so low Lo and beholden all our times are changing I know Before my voice finds me here I'm cloaked under slumbering that you morphed so dear with your movements entangling gone is the restless listing ship anchor slip now I'm a diamond rough cut but proving it all to a time you know only in photographs rest assured baby these days are making their home in you Hear all the bells of the city song singing out all through our trembling echoes of memories now here with me now songs pouring out of me

Protein Scum 03:40
It was three life times more that I was dumbstruck in awe to a woman I had known only a fraction of the whole It was new to me this feeling of power overpowered my freedoms curtailed if briefly just a blink really in an hour As I lay dreaming lost to your call all heavens did surrender all my senses at fault I sang dizzy, waltzed slow drank oceans on my own Everybody knows The Tyger but tell me what's the first line of The Lamb Oh little lamb who made thee do you know who made thee?

Flowers in the Street I go casting my nasturtiums say why so many hearts they're painted on his sleeve? and why the voice so full of weeds? There's a place at my bedside in the Hesperus Motel a ring upon your finger now and a harbour or your soul A harbour for your soul A harbour for your soul The Pacific Ocean pounds all the rocks of the heads while we promise just to weather all the storms from this bed And tarry no more And tarry no more We crossed that equinox into an Aeries moon it rained three days the creek it roared and raged when you come in from the cold talking time is nothing more than summer passing over the snow the melody of flesh and bone so sweetly sung in spring to follow where the seasons go And tarry no more And tarry no more In a cloud of wings what of all these things? What of all your broken strings left in the air so trembling? In the Hesperus Motel with a ring upon your finger now and a harbour for your soul A harbour for your soul A harbour for your soul

Circles 04:42
Falling out of time with an arrow for my heart a twisted line oh the hungers of my heart play their part Oh the wind sings the trees the creek winds slow metres high now metres low To run in circle no stranger than my own To run in circle no stranger than my own Sing O meridian the high noon the song I'm short in the long grass tall as the sun a bryter star layter your sickle moon halo the blue of the nocturne who do burn for thee Me on my sickle my scythe and my swathe slow with the flowers your face grace beloved I never felt better dressed as death oh dressed as death To run in circles no stranger than my own To run in circles no stranger than my own I run in circles no stranger than my own For the land hungers and the water thirsts the fore will take it all blowing down the line of the spirals in your mind in the holding and the letting go the holding and the letting go To run in circles no stranger than my own

You are travelling at the speed of light you are shining through an endless night reaching out for darkness friends a light without and a light within Every blinding light I see can't keep me from the dark every darkness made of light is some shadows mask I thought O the light on the mountain the light on the road the light on the water shining like gold I heard a choir of angels I used to call them birds they sharpen up their tongues and they carve up the night then carry it away but it don't hurt And I'm deep beneath the dead leaves surrounded on all sides of mans dominion I have suffered pains of any moth and any flame O the light on the mountain the light on the road the light on the water shining like gold Now I will cross this river so wild that holds us to her side and I will cross with providence and go then with the tide You are travelling at the speed of light you are shining through an endless night reaching out for darkness friend a light without and a light within O the light on the mountain the light on the road the light on the water silver and gold

Slaked 02:44
Of all my true loves I hold a true love still who wraps me in tenderness holding me still while everything surrounds us shatters and shakes in the wake I wake in your arms to far gone to taste this all that is left to see of long amber slumbers is painting my face and all down my fingers and you you So truthful so wild so innocent child so woman so lover so fire flood and thunder we're tearing it all down to every number my dead sort of past deaths and you unsurmountable so complete and so surrounding me here where we lay speak not so breathless my steps are you feet slaked from the crowded rooms where we thirsted and slaked in your chambers of sunlight and circles is golden is holding me holding me over me out of my body and into you

Tyger Red 04:26
I've been writing songs for friends but never using their names sort of hiding my affections like tears cried in the rain while all the while my heart grows strong the love I speak to me alone I've been smiling in a darkness a dark a call my home I've been writing songs for friends who've grown so deep so wild so sweet so long I've been singing songs for friends who've grown so well inside of me It's calm on the levy I'm fit for a fall I'm strong on my shoulders but begging to be saved when Death comes a creeping just a creeping in your house and you want not care for sweet despair well it's coming with it now You won't back down It's worth all the trouble It's hard to hide inside when everyone's watching all of me and mine my endless distraction it's hard to hide inside the pale half of daylight a screen blue onto blue as the hounds hound the angels on desolation mountain watching for the lightening it's a summer of bummer then it's back to the river You won't back down It's worth all the trouble So Laura for the hell of it I'll say your name for the heat and the teeth in it I'm breathing you I pull on the stars a thread of lonely night and stain my hands on the wine of the song stay here now deep lost in a tangle of locks where we sleep I've been nowhere I've been free I've been kept well hidden in a shade of green as yet before unseen I've been free I've been nowhere I've been outta sight in the green of your eyes just a tourist in the forests of the night

There is a ripple a ring a circle in the water and a circle around the sun the wind blows through your har as the lights stretch and blur I hold you in my arms and we disappear With the wren there dying at my window her feathers messed and forgetting to eat locked in battle with the trick of the light reflecting on her enemy beside Every time I try to drown I get up and walk upon the water now I hold you in my arms but I wont hold you down Where is the last love song I wrote is it buried in the garden greens? Left out in the cold May night under the belly of the Southern stars? Holed up in the marigolds with my poesy the orange light from windows and the tropic line descending left out in the cold May night under the belly of the Southern stars Every time I try to drown I get up and walk upon the water I hold you in my arms but I wont hold you under Every time I try to drown I get up and walk upon the water now I hold you in my arms but I wont hold you down

Trinkets 04:43
Well you keep me on my feet time after time through the doubts in belief with my home sick tremors my side ways looks the empty house echoes from my cowboy boots and all the trinkets on the shelf If we leave can we chose who we save? If I lose will I lose you to? Don't let the last light of today paint your city as a grave even your towns sticks and stones can only break your bones if it's souvenirs you want not a home sweet home not a hone sweet home O I'm nothing more than a blade of grass or a slamming door Get your head up above the chimney pots wont you try for some clarity all your evenings illusions all your street light lies they always catch my eye Turn your sadness into singing pull the rain into the dry earth you make a little home here and keep drawing your breath O in all this mess you keep drawing your breath turn your sadness into singing pull the rain into the dry earth you make a little home here and keep drawing your breath

I came home after I was rover and as rover I did roam 'till my roving was done I called it in called it off had enough of all that stuff I'm gonna keep my head in my heart keep my head O And I'll never be alone no more because I lay my head sing my song the bird has flown I made my home no more to ramble no more to roam I'll be down by the river just singing for the song I'll be down by the river just singing for the song And as a rover I saw the endless sky caught in my eye from the gutter and all the galaxies I sought thrown from the bottles I bought were as much illusion to me as the neon signs 'aint the moon I'll be down by the river just singing for the song I'll be down by the river just singing for the song So baby let's go crazy and pull up the blinds O O they been down for three days now I want to watch that evening shine because this time I'm going to let it all go I'm gonna be I'm gonna hang my soul with the wind in the reeds and nothing more I'll be down by the river just singing for the song I'll be down by the river just singing for the song

about

This is the second album by Old Semeil

Recurring themes of light and dark, patterns in nature, circles, cycles and Tygers. This is a collection of songs dedicated to offering oneself up to this life. Reminders to have grace. For the love of friendships and a practice of kindness. Songs of resilience as I am inspired by the awe I feel for our world. This album is a celebration.

All this is play. I must treat it as such. There is no career here. There is process. The art. The feel, the impulse. There is good will. There is beauty and the strive for beauty. The decoration of time, the honouring of times. I am satisfied for now. I sing everyday. The joy of strings the joy of things beyond my control. Here we all are. All fractured and enchanted. My heart is steady, my mind is finding. I am a cleaner. I'm organising. I'm refreshed. My focus is my hearts beat, if I can keep this with you, here, now, all that was just process. This here is evidence, some pieces of a puzzle on the table, movements and moments of clarity with much to smile upon.
